I worked for two years at Stillwater Medical Center as a rehabilitation technician. I assisted the rehabilitation therapists in the acute care, joint replacement, medical surgery, and intensive care unit settings. I was often asked to go and safely transfer patients from the recliners or beds to their wheelchairs and take them to their next therapy session. I also assisted patients with restroom breaks, showers, and getting dressed during their occupational therapy treatments.
I then spent 400 hours interning for Dr. Carrie Ciro and Dr. Beth DeGrace at the University of Oklahoma’s College of Allied Health. During my internship, I developed an understanding and appreciation for the research setting of occupational therapy. I visited the homes
