Stephen King's 1408: Comparing The Book And Movie

In short stories we read and watched 1408. There are 4 parts in this story that divide them into quad sections. Reading the sections individually then watching the corresponding movie chucks we finished both in a very short time. Written by Stephen King and published November, 1999. The movie however was released June 22, 2007. This short story tells the tale of Mike Insinel, a writer visiting the Dolphin Hotel to stay in a so called, “Haunted.” room. Upon his visit he finds more than he could have ever asked for. The book and movie go in very different directions with this story. Let me show you three large differences in story and movie.
One large difference between the movie and book are the painting in room 1408. The book tells the paintings coming to life with examples of the famous dog hunting painting, a women on a staircase, and a ship in the ocean. As Mike stays in the room longer these paintings come to life. One of the very memorable paintings being the women on the stairs that when woken took out her breast and from her nipples started bleeding. That is absolutely horrifying to think of. The book gives this vivid description. Where in the movie this painting doesn't even appear it has been completely removed from the scene. I believe this scene

The movie took the books ending and went in a completely different direction. In the book he lived and went on living in his home with no phones, no sunlight, and never sleeping with the lights off. He couldn’t remember what happened in the room but he had nightmares every night about his experience.In the movie however it had 2 endings. The first ending for the movie is Mike living and getting back together with his wife and from there proceed to play the tape in front of her and she heard her dead daughter's voice. The second ending for the movie however Mike dies in the fire and his ghost stays in that room forever like all the ghost before
