Like everyone else sharing planet Earth, at a minimum respect is mutually expected by all its occupants, for a happy and healthy living environment. Putting aside skin color, ethnicity, social class, and level of education, beneath the exterior only lays flesh, blood and bone. Somehow the world has become a hateful place, with racial traits passed down from generation to generation, displaying complete disregard of the civil rights movement in the nineteen sixties. Although five decades have come and gone since racial segregation ended, racism has never really ended, it is very much alive and happening everywhere, even in films all across Hollywood. In A Beautiful Mind (2001) Jennifer Conelly, who plays the role of a Salvadoran born woman, the American actress Conelly’s parents both emigrated from Poland and Russia. Though Hollywood is only entertaining the world, they hold a big corporate social responsibility because, they have great power influencing the actions of society, can demonstrate the equality of all actors giving them a chance, and contribute to a world where stereotypes are not the focus of obtaining more money. Hollywood needs to take into their own accountability for contributing to the prejudice world of today. One film at a time including more minority lead roles can greatly take away many racial burdens for many people. It is not fair for the biggest form of influence on the world can get away with such negative contribution. It seems that making money off of the more well known actors is much more valuable than hiring an aspiring actor who may have exceptional skills and real life experience. Messages to future generations to come about setting money as the ultimate goal is a mistake, and something must be done in Hollywood for changes to start
