As the world shifts to a more technical, cyber feel, many people are seeing the truths behind the media representation are as I’d like to say, miss representation. People are instructed with what the media represents and look up to them to determine how society portrays them to be. The bias, favoritism of how it is the mirror or reality that has an ideological perceptive of society. The media should be able to express everyone’s uniqueness in order for the people to learn how to be leaders instead of followers. Media representation is one of the most important educational outlets in the world, revealing the human’s everyday experience. People worship media because of all of its accessories it gives. There are also many stereotypes that the media displays about people of all kinds. It tries to shape and convince the “naïve” ones that if they acted and did things a certain, or was a certain way then the society it will accept them. The media are, “Conceived as a "symbolic space characterized by social imaginaries (carried largely in mediated representations), which people around the world share, but which they simultaneously compete and struggle over,” as saying it’s the dream of reality. People see how those who have nice things, long pretty hair, acne-free/glowing skin, nice model type bodies are the Gods of the world. There are so many people who go to plastic surgery, destroying the body that was made for them just so they can be how society says its right to be. Many young or old, black African women are scared to wear their naturally long, kinky hair because the media says that having straight hair is the best hair. Guys and girls that are unfit, too skinny, or too fat are punishing and hurting their self by trying to make them into something they know they can’t be. Bullying is a big side of the media that many people are not noticing. People don’t see how they’re hurting their selves trying to make an image of something they know it’s comfortable by them. The media representations, make these people forget who they’re truly are and go with what will make them feel accepted by others. People’s connection with social media is severe. Some people are highly addicted to the media and will do anything for it. As I listed before, there are many stereotypical things that it represents and expects people to be. The media can make people feel insecure about their self and things they do. They are manipulated into doing things that they think is right for them.
