I would love to meet Steven Hawking as I have had a deep interest in science and technology from an early age. The world of technology is a vast, open world with endless opportunities. It hurdles over obstacles that were seemingly impossible a few years prior and at an incomprehensible rate, constantly breaking the boundaries of what we thought could never be accomplished. The success as a civilization is breathtaking but is the fictional era created by the directors of movies such as The Matrix, I Robot and others something that may be creeping into the realm of reality?
Technology is no longer a luxury, it is now a necessity. We cling to the phones in our pockets, the cards in our wallets, the entertainment that we mindlessly absorb; the world is run by computers connected across the globe creating an era never before experienced by mankind. The danger of becoming dependant on machinery has long already passed and while in some cases there are great advantages regarding our necessity, the theory that Steven Hawking presents is a nightmare.

Many believe that it is not possible for AI to surpass human intelligence however Steven Hawking is sure of this outcome, stating 'we evolved to be smarter than our ancestors', thus robots are able to do the same. I would love to know, with respect to that statement, whether he then believes we should continue to try and produce smarter and more complex AI and if so, how does he believe we should proceed with the improvements of our creations.
