There have been many stolen artworks over the past 50 years. The artworks are not just any cheap artwork they are very valued. The people that stole the artworks are very intelligent. They obviously planned out how they were going to steal it. This process wasn’t planned over night, it took years to strategically plan out.
Authorities probably have a very difficult time finding the artworks or documents. In the article Bonnie Magness-Gardiner says "Trying to locate items that disappeared decades ago represents a significant challenge for law enforcement".
