In “Stop Googling. Let’s Talk.” MIT professor Sherry Turkle argue that mobile phones negatively impact the quality of people’s conversation and relationships, and presents a few possible solutions to this problem.
According to Turkle, mobile phones hinder the communication between human and destroys the relationships between family and friends. Turkle says that human bring cell phones distraction with them. Moreover, Turkle indicates that she interviewed a girl who complained about her father played cell phone when they ate together shows the phone affect the relation between the family. Also, Sara Konrath, Turkle indicates, who led a research which about sympathetic reaction at the University of Michigan, point out the resonance reduction almost half after 2000 for university student. Also, Turkle reveals that human lack of face to face conversation due to people always keep the phone in the first place. In addition, a college juior, report that the problem which affect the chat of people is text on the phone when we get together. According to Turkle, psychologist Yalda T. Uhls who made a research of kids no- phone campus shows that children can share and chat with each other to deal with loneless instead of having the phone. Therefore, Turkle states that people can create a space without a mobile phone whether at work, driving, or at home. In addition, Turkle suggest that the people should not hold the phone constantly. Moreover, Turkle says, people can reset or add the mode of phone, such as the “do not disturb” pattern that had already on our phone.
