My devotional is gonna be on strenghting your faith, I had never really thought about giving a devotional before, nor had I ever thought about sitting in seminary… about a year ago my family had been having some financial struggles and my moms friend from work had offered my family to get up on Sunday and go to church with her, that was a strange and new idea for my family, never really been of the religion and never really stood in a church before.. it was kinda scary at first.. all these people rushing up to us like we were the last brownie on the cake platter.. I remember going to young womens for the first time everybody was so nice, and so welcoming.. I really felt at home. Like I was part of some big happy family, I remember after young womens I had been invited by our leader (I can’t quite rememember her name) to go to young womens that Tuesday night.. I hesitated at first, but than I finally said yes, I remember her picking me up at 7 o’clock pm and giving me a ride to the church, that particular Tuesday evening we were making homemade icecream, I remember all the girls screeching with happiness as they rolled up to the church, I remember seeing their sparkling faces, and just knowing by the tone in their voices they were truly happy, I remember wondering to myself “what makes these girls so much happier than the girls I hang out with?”
After that night I went home and I did my usual routine, next Sunday came and my family again was invited to come back to the church, I remember that this particular Sunday was fast Sunday and I remember sitting in the chapel for only my 2nd time in my whole life, and looking up to see just the happiness in everyones eyes and hearing a young girl only about my age bear her testimony about Jesus Christ, I remember wondering “ how this young girl only about 14 had any clue about who her creator was? How she knew that he loved her and everyone on this earth?”
After class that Sunday afternoon, I had asked my leader for a copy of the Book of Morman… I was determined to read the entire thing by the time we met again that next Sunday, I had began reading in The First Book Of Nephi, I remember reading just the first verse “ I Nephi having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days neverless having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days yea
