Good afternoon and thank you all for attending. Additionally, I would like to give thanks for letting me have the chance to speak my mind about the current disposition of our country. As of today, the debt for student loans is disrupting the opportunity for us millennials to achieve a normal standard of living. But still, higher education facilities such as universities and/or colleges still treat these places as a profit center rather than a residence for all to grow and learn. Equality may be better than it was a couple decades ago, however it is still a problematic issue for those of a different race, gender, sexual orientation, et cetera. What about our environment? Knowledge opens new doors and opportunities to familiarize us about ambiguities. Imagine what our nation could do unlocking our full potential if college was free and K-12 curriculums improved and provided cultivating programs. However, according to the site College Fix, student loan debt is a total of $1.27 trillion in which every second that passes, $3,055 is added to that burden of debt (CollegeFix). Although colleges are partly responsible for the debt, banks and contracts from government (such as grants) also contribute to this mass problem. While money plays a massive role in the crisis, young adults who are attending, or have attended college face many struggles. This would include not getting their dream occupation they wanted because these young adults are considered “underqualified” or their degree is nothing more than a piece of paper. In result, these young adults have to enroll back into college while working and paying their prior college loans they have already. Our nation has a difficult time implementing a system that combines organization and divergent thinking. Instead, programs like No Child Left Behind and the Common Core teaches children a rudimentary and convergent mindset. Programs like the ones previously stated only care about memorizing the material and doing well on tests when education is more than just a score. According to the Business Insider, these programs also punish institutions by defunding or closing schools if they do not meet the specific standardized testing requirements (Business Insider). No wonder students are stressed and do not enjoy
