This question remind me of a male adult patient who had a severe alcohol problem. He started showing signs of hepatitis, including yellow coloring of the eyes and skin. Sadly, he was diagnosed with alcohol liver disease, and was in need of a liver transplant. However, in order for him to even be considered for the donor’s list, he had to show evidence that he was committed to abstinence from alcohol.
Unfortunately, this patient was a “revolving door” patient who never followed-up with aftercare or hardly attended AA or NA meetings. Apparently, he had Hep C for a while before realizing what damage it had done to his body over the years.
