There are many different things have caused the decline in consumers shopping at suburban malls one of them “is increased shopper price sensitivity. A wider selection of shopping alternative from which to choose and the desire to make the family income go further (which, in essence, is equal to a pay increase) have proven to be strong forces pushing shoppers to comparison shop retail establishments- something that most malls are not designed to facilitate” (Perreault Jr, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2014). Suburban mall also has to compete with other competitors directly and indirectly.

The mall could host a talent show, fashion show, character reading, book signing, concerts, and child safety days etc. By the suburban mall making the events family oriented will draw more consumers to the site.
What shopping trends do you foresee over the next 10 years? How might these trends affect suburban regional shopping mall?
“Changes in consumers and in the shopping environment appear to be jeopardizing the continuing success of suburban regional shopping mall” (Burns, Anderson, & Reid, 2002).The trends I foresee over the next 10 years are the increase of home base shopping. The consumers are able to enjoy shopping online from the comforts of his or her own home. Online shopping is just as competitive as shopping in a local retail store. Consumers are able avoid a crowded suburban mall with bad parking. Consumers are working longer hours and have less time to drive to the suburban mall to shop it is more to purchase online.
