Suffering plays a huge role in the world today. People suffer everyday whether it be a loss of a family member or internal struggle. This is especially shown in the book Fever 1793, by Laurie halse Anderson the author gives a great image of what people go through everyday and how suffering affects our everyday actions. In the story a young girl named Mattie, faces many challenges having to experience the devastation of the fever in Philadelphia 1793. She sees the huge effects it is causing on people on a personal level and a large scale. She gets through the awful time, and all the catastrophic events, and suffering she has endured makes her a better and more mature person.
