Andy Jackson is a 17 year old that attends Hazelwood High, and is one of the star basketball players on the team. Because the team wins a big game, they decide the celebrate with alcohol, and the once celebratory night takes a dark turn. Consequences they all face for drinking while driving changes Andy and his classmates for life. Driving is now prohibited from Andy for crashing his car while drinking and driving. Even though himself, back seat passengers B. J. Carson and Tyrone Mills make it out alive, his best friend Robert Washington is not so fortunate. Quickly Andy becomes desperate after waiting too long to procure help again, so he calls his old psychologist and Keisha, but neither of them pick up. Reckless and regretful Andy skips school and realizes he can no longer carry so much guilt. Suicide is what he felt to be the only option left, so he did the unspeakable… he took his life with a gun. Then his friend, Rhonda, came to give him homework along with Monty and Andy’s mom arriving to find Andy dead on his bedroom floor. Unhappiness filled all of Hazelwood High with the emptiness of Andy’s cheerful charisma. Very distraught and anger at Andy’s decision his friends and classmates write letters to him talking about their feelings. With two deaths of their classmates in one year Hazelwood High School is left with a hole in all of their hearts. Extremely distraught about Andy’s death Monty writes a letter to him, telling him that his parents got divorced, how life has changed, and how that he will always remember that Andy told him “It’s ok to put tears on a tiger.” Young Monty will forever be scarred with Andy’s death along with other Hazelwood High School students.
