How Dogs and Their Barking Came To Be Once upon a time, Athena created a dog in a not so pleasant manner. A young lady named Rachel believed that she had more power than the Greek goddess in many things, including wisdom, courage, arts and crafts, and skill. The Greek goddess Athena did not approve of this. On a gorgeous day, Rachel challenged Athena, Greek goddess to see who had more power. Athena disagreed with this statement and became very angry about it. Athena knew for a fact that she had more power than Rachel, and after Athena’s wrath, Rachel eventually learned to avoid causing trouble with with gods or goddesses. Athena could no longer tolerate this argument, so she needed to prove to Rachel that she had more power. Rachel knew that Athena turned Arachne into a spider, but Rachel should have been more conscientious of this. Soon, Athena summoned the courage to turn Rachel into a dog. The gods had never heard or seen a dog before, so people were extremely shocked when they saw this occur. However, Rachel could still speak. She continued to yell at Athena and tried to use some of her powers to fight back at Athena, but sadly Rachel's powers proved unsuccessful as a dog. Therefore, Rachel used her only power she had left; yelling. Athena was so sick of Rachel yelling at her that she disabled her speaking ability and made her bark every time she would try to talk. Legend has it that this is where dogs and their barking came to be, because every time someone would act upon Athena, she would turn them into a barking dog. After years of this, people realized that it was smarter to not challenge or yell at Athena and to never challenge a god or goddess because often times, they are ruthless with their abilities This also develops the idea that one should not think more highly of himself in regards to the capabilities of
