Article 4 chapter 8: Joint Terrorism Task Forces
According to the textbook, Homeland Security, by Larry K. Gains and Victor E. Kappeler, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, or better known as the JTTF, is a national organization. The JTTF is comprised of many interagencies within the United States, some of which are the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. border Patrol, U.S. Army, and even state and local law enforcement agency’s (Gaines & Kappeler, 2012, p. 229). The Joint Terrorism Task Force works closely together with these other agencies to help combat any terrorist activity that takes places within the United States of America (Gaines & Kappeler, 2012, p. 229).

In fact, for the most part, all JTTF work out of FBI Headquarters, this is so the FBI can help distribute all of the crucial information in regards to terrorist activity to other joint agencies (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2016). Moving on, the FBI involvement with the JTTF is a crucial one. To better elaborate, the FBI works as the investigators of terrorist activity (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2016). How does the FBI go about investigating terrorist activity for the JTTF? FBI agents will hunt down leads, collect evidence, conduct arrests, provide security for high risk special events, collect and share intelligence with other agencies, and most importantly, quickly and efficiently respond to threats and incidents (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2016). Like all other government agencies the Joint Terrorism Task Force works effortlessly, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to keep the United States citizens protected from all terrorist organizations that means the country harm. The article titled, Joint Terrorism Task Forces, by an unnamed author, was written to inform the public on the history of the Joint Terrorism Task Force. However, it did specifically focus on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s involvement within the JTTF. This article was extremely informative and did provide more thorough information than what was given in the textbook. It is a great rescore for anyone who is curious about learning more about the
