The book I am reading is called “A Child Called “It’ written by Dave Pelzer. This story was written based on a true story on the author. The story is about the author himself, who was brutally beaten and starved by his alcoholic and emotionally unstable mother. his mother would play such unpredictable and tortuous games which sometimes lead him to almost die. In the story it starts to explain that his mother tortured him because he was a "bad boy" and beating him was to apparently teach him a lesson. if his mother did like what he did she beat him. for example sometimes she would drive by his school when she knew he had playtime and if she saw him in the grass she would get extremely angry. While she slam his head she would have him say "I'm a bad boy, I'm a bad boy" over and over. After that punishment she would change it to burning him with fire. He did not understand why she did all those horrible things. After the burning punishment he learned that he order to survive he had learn his mother's games because she started to no longer see him as a son but has a slave and no longer a boy but an "it". Later in the story his punishment changed to starvation. If he did not finish or do his chores correctly he would not get any food. When his mother did allow him to eat, it would be dirty scrapes from the garbage that not even the dogs would eat. This all ended when he got to school one day, after his mother had stabbed in his stomach. When he got school his nurse noticed that he was in pain and called him to her office. Once he was called into the nurse’s office she lifted up his shirt and saw multiple bruises.Once she saw his bruises she called the Dean of the school who then called to cops.
