The Alzheimer's Project: The Memory Loss Tapes is an eye-opening documentary film that takes viewers on a journey through the devastating progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). “Alzheimer's disease, a permanent brain disorder, is considered the most common form of dementia and is progressively consuming and interfering with the lives of over 5 million Americans” (National Institute on Again, n.d., para. 1). Through gradual cognitive decline, Alzheimer's disease deteriorates the memory, thinking, reasoning, and behavioral functioning of those suffering from this disorder (Hoffman & Sullivan, 2017, p. 763). The Alzheimer’s Project: The Memory Loss tapes captures the development of Alzheimer’s disease by highlighting the seven stages of the disease. The documentary follows the lives of seven individuals suffering from the varying stages of AD. From Bessie, experiencing phase one of Alzheimer's disease, to Cliff, who is in the most advanced state, the film brings to light personal experiences and the different challenges that individuals with AD face as the disease progresses. …show more content…
