Anthem:
“I see humans but no humanity”. Anthem by Ayn Rand is a dystopian novel that takes place in an unknown time. In this book this society is being controlled, individualism and freedom are not present because the government wants everything to be equal. Everything is controlled, the people do not have that dream of being and doing whatever because the government forbids this. The purpose of this book is to give the reader a picture in their head of what it looks like if their society was being controlled.
The discovery of light is an act of violence toward the government. Equality tries to give his fellow citizens light but the world of councils are very angered at him. “ How dared you think that your mind held greater wisdom than the minds of your brothers”( Rand 71). This quote shows anger towards equality because broke the law and that was agonizing of him. Even though individualism is forbidden , equality still finds a way to make it appear.

Equality is an intelligent young man and is always curious to figure things. His curiosity led him to a major event in this story. Equality 7-2521 discovered electricity in a underground tunnel when he was dissecting a frog hanging from a copper wire.
