Part One:

I’ll use the example that Bear Grylls is a survival expert who is showing his audience how to get out of something similar to quick mud. This relates to his audience that he is an expert and reliable. He has the credentials, he is a professional survivalist and has extensive military experience applicable to survival situations. Secondly, instead of just explaining to his audience how to get out of a situation like that, he opts to use an example. He not only tells them but shows them how to get out. He is keeping his audience in mind and helping them understand what he means when he speaks about the steps to take in a "sticky" situation.

Part Two:

He also uses credible references from historians, specific events, news reports and reporters, sociologists, and statistical evidence. In using support from such a diverse base of expertise, Rushdy relates to his audience that he is tackling the subject fairly and logically.

By using examples of the reaction to past corpse images, he supports that they could be used as a powerful device against racism. He uses events to explain that if theses images are exposed to individuals who harbor racism, they may not feel the same way. Rushdy reminds his audience to consider racism's past, present, and future. Ultimately, he implements the example of corpse images to suggest that society needs to stop ignoring racism in order to “foster a climate in which terror is no longer tolerated” (77). Rushdy relies more on pathos but uses smart ethos. The result is an effective balance to his argument.
