The book Bad Science by Ben Goldacre provides great information about the hidden facts from public in normal circumstances. The public tends to believe in the superficial advantages of various products marketed by companies or people who prefer their monetary interests over public interests. They use every possible way to create a target market for their products, giving baseless scientific justification for the effectiveness of their new inventions. I am of the view that playing with the emotions of innocent people for the sake of some money should be an indictable offence.

These companies declare this method effective at extracting toxins from the body (Goldacre,2010,4). I have been a great admirer of this technique and was among those who strongly believe in it, thinking that all the toxins are being drawn out of my body as the water turns brown. After reading the book my views changed and I was able to comprehend that the body was not detoxified after a foot bath. Instead it was just an illusion as the water goes brown because of a process called electrolysis (Goldacre , 5). The author states, “A physiological system called detox is a marketing invention” (Goldacre,2010, 11). After eliciting this information, I was surprised. My first thought was that these companies deceive people to earn money by using scientific knowledge in a way that creates illusion. I think it is extremely important to know this so that we are not deceived by the marketing companies that want to sell their product by playing with the emotions of
