Beth Johnson uses “Bomb Bursting” as a figurative expression to explain the existence of life’s tragedies. This is demonstrated through multiple examples of turmoil and mishaps. Her first example was her daughters playmate, Shannon, who contracted a tumor on her brain. Following Shannon’s diagnosis of Glioma it was as if “the bomb that exploded in Shannon’s home has sent splinters of shrapnel into ours as well…” life’s harsh truths are not confined to just those personally impacted but also by the friends and families surrounding them.
