Some say he is the best quarterback in the NFL, some say otherwise. Colin Kaepernick, who plays for the 49ers, protested by kneeling down during the national anthem before a game rather than standing with the rest of the team and crowd. Kaepernick was protesting for the “Black Lives Matter” movement. Black Lives Matter is a unique movement that began with the killings of Black people by police, along with our judicial system discriminating against black people in America . Kaepernick refused to stand for the national anthem at the start of games.This was his way of showing his support for Black Lives Matter. Our national anthem is played at the beginning of every televised sports event. Out of respect, people rise and put there hands on their hearts as a symbol of their dedication to our country.
