The cow jumped over the moon. The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog and bit Reuven. What is wrong with me. I do not like this essay. The story called The Chosen, by Chaim Potok, would be totally different if the fathers in the book were changed. Although Reb Saunders, David Malter, Roger Merrit all love their children, although they do so in very different ways.

Reb Saunders never talks to his son. Their days go by without as much as a word spoken toward each other, except during Danny’s studies. Danny does not understand the seemingly senseless silence. He is hurt by this, and Reb Saunders seems to know that. However, even though he acts in such an abnormal way to his son, he loves him. Even so, Reb Saunders feels the need to speak to Danny through Reuven. He would never dream of saying a word to Danny, yet, to Reuven, he says “My son is my most precious possession. I have nothing in the world compared to my son.” (166) Somehow, even though Reb Saunders never speaks to his son, he loves him more than anything else he owns.

He talks often with Reuven, and Reuven will trust him with anything. David Malter loves his son, but shows it. He think often about Reuven, giving Reuven good advice and making sure he is not just acting as a teacher to his child. When Mr. Malter tells Reuven the long story of Danny’s history, he stops every once in a while to say things like “You are not asleep yet, Reuven?” (109) to make sure that Reuven still wants him to continue. Mr. Malter loves his son with all his heart, and Reuven loves him
