Cormac McCarthy’s novel All the Pretty Horses features various characters with different personalities, opinions and lifestyles. John Grady Cole is the main character of the novel which focuses mainly on him and is told solely from his perspective. He comes from a unique background and during the book he makes a variety of decisions that change his future and outlook on life. John Grady Coles physical description isn’t mentioned but by the end of the book he has acquired a number of scars from his various altercations. At one point Rawlins calls John Grady a ladies’ man when he asks the little girls to get him cigarettes. The reader could assume then that John Grady is most likely a good looking guy.
