Gender and the “Fag Discourse” In the Pascoe reading, the author speaks descriptively over the topic of gender constructed through constant interactions. Through my own personal understanding, gender is established separately from sex. Through a series of behaviors and actions that have become normative for one reason or another, one is able to establish the gender that matches one’s sex. This process of matching gender to sex is, in fact, normative behavior exhibited by students in secondary schools wishing to not make waves within a given social environment.
