Many people in the world say if you believe in God you shouldn't accept Darwin's theory and you shouldn't be teaching it in public schools. John Scopes said why not? John Scopes taught evolution to his class and got in trouble with the law for it. Scopes journey was made into a play and a movie. However the play Inherit the Wind ( Lawrence and Lee,1955 ) transform the actual Scopes Trial into a work of fiction like the characters. In the article ( Tennessee vs. John Scopes, 1925) I gather my information on the trial and it stated that John Scopes was a science teacher and a football coach for the school he taught at. Scopes also had a smoking problem and loved to dance in his free time. Also the article ( Tennessee vs. John Scopes, 1925) states that John Scopes only attended church to meet girls and go on dates. In ( Lawrence and Lee,1955 ) they renamed John Scopes to Bert Cates; he was only a school teacher, didn't smoke or dance and in the play he went to a church until the reverend said something to make Bert leave the church. …show more content…
