In the excerpt from Laura Hillenbrand’s nonfiction novel Unbroken, the main character Louie, has strong problem-solving skills which in my opinion was most essential in enabling Louie to survive. Louie helps his men to survive and believe in themselves to be survivors. Louie is a very brave man to stay calm during times of trouble, but his ability to problem-solve is incredible. In the beginning of the excerpt, Louie attempts to save Phil from his injury.
