The Second Inaugural Address was a short, serious and straightforward speech, given by president Abraham Lincoln shortly before the end of the Civil War. He was a very committed man who was determined to fulfill the task in his second term in letting his fellow countrymen know the high hopes he had for rebuilding the nation.
The main purpose of the speech was to contemplate the last four years of the war, the effects of slavery, and what it would take for the nation to come together and heal.
