Summary Of Sam From 'Brown Bess'

Sam returns home from college in 1775 and has decided to be enrolled in the rebel army. His parents aren’t happy about his decision. His father is especially displeased about his son’s decision to join the army. Sam’s little brother, Tim has much admiration for his older brother. His father used to hit him back in the past. While they are doing chores Tim doesn't want to get his army uniform dirty. His father kicks Sam out of his house well he was visiting because he thinks joining the army isn’t worth the risk of dying. His father puts his head down on the table and cries. Tim finds Sam hiding in a hut. He tries to convince him going out of war but Tim’s plan doesn't work. Sam stole his father's gun. His gun was called a Brown Bess. There
