The book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper is an interesting story about Amari’s journey. The book is also about what slaves went through and all of the harsh conditions. There are some really harsh and bad conditions, but there are some good things through the way. Amari was a slave girl that was brought to America from Africa. In the novel the settings of Amari’s village and Mr. Derby's plantation have many differences and similarities.
There are numerous differences between Mr. Derby’s Plantation and Amari’s village, Ziavi. Some of the differences are Amari’s village is filled with peace and excitement. The plantation can be very harsh and horrible. At Amari’s village they didn’t really have a variety of foods, but at the plantation there are
