The novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God” is a story of a young woman called Janie Crawford, finding herself as the years go by. Janie, throughout the story grows physically and emotionally. Janie is in the search for perfect true love and who she is internally, while other such as her husband just wanted power of possession.
Jannie had three different husbands, the first one was set up by her Nanny, Logan Killicks. Nanny wanted her to marry a good guy who could give her what she needed and be with a stable man before she had passed away. Nanny thought that Logan would respect her and give her what she needed. Janie left Logan Killicks for Joe due to the loveless relationship they had. Janie had an attraction towards Joe at first, they both ended up loving each other. Later they both ended up moving to Eatonville, they wanted to help people build a new community. As they both helped to construction to houses and stores, they grew together until the people of the town named Joe Starks as mayor of the city. Due to the power Joe starks had over the city he built he became more focused on himself. Janie noticed that their love was fading away based on the way Joe starting treating her and how she had priorities since she was the mayor's wife. Joe started treating her like an object and less rather than his wife. Later on Joe had died of liver failure and Janie had her freedom back
