“We are the 99%:” those were the words shouted by hundreds of American citizens, who took to the streets in September of 2011. On this particular fall morning, people from all over the country flocked to Zuccotti Park, a center-point of Wall Street’s financial district in New York City. Although the protest was fueled by the bailouts of major banks at the cost of approximately 700 billion U.S. taxpayers’ dollars, the political movement directly pointed to a far greater issue that has plagued the nation for many decades – income inequality.
