The Doolittle Raid

In the year 1941, America was attacked by the Empire of Japan. Japan was an Axis nation and had been planning an attack on America. The emperor of Japan was very impressed with pearl harbor, the Japanese people were brainwashed into believing that Japan was completely untouchable
By all allied forces. General James Harold Doolittle would prove this wrong. This raid is important because it made it possible to defeat the Japanese.

All Americans were enraged by the recent attacks, the defense department started to brainstorm ideas,many thought of a strait up bombing raid on Japan,although this was impossible because there was no bomber big enough to take off from Hawaii and still be able to fly to japan and return to Hawaii.

Then someone in the department of defense had a great idea and wondered if it would be possible to put land based bombers on an aircraft carrier, After some time of serious discussing, it was decided that the B-25 was the lightest and most effective aircraft for the job. The idea of launching ground based aircraftfrom an aircraft carrier was a risky and crazy thought, they needed someone just as risky and crazy, the department of defense looked to lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle. Doolittle was a risk taker,he liked a good challenge and he liked to try new things that no one had ever done and he wanted to get back at the Japanese. The department of defense told Doolittle to start collecting volunteers quickly. His call was met with ample response. Hornet, he would have his aircraft loaded by crane onto the mighty Hornet, and then the Navy would start sailing towards Tokyo.
