Children have suffered enough from dreadful homework. Homework is an epidemic that needs to stop today. It is ruining the lives of future generations by causing stress, which can lead to death, which is not ok. Children could be experiencing this right now with terrible time consuming homework. Homework is harmful for students. Homework is time consuming, which is bad for today’s kids. A student spends an average of 3-5 hours on homework (Rajoo), and that can be bad for most students. Kids are losing sleep due to homework (Greenfeld) , and it is not right. Teachers should not be happy with the fact that they ruined somebody’s precious sleep, which makes them more tired for the school day tomorrow. Moreover, when working late into the night on homework, you can get in trouble from your parents for staying up late. Another fact is that when kids are up late due to homework, they are usually very tired for school. This leads to getting detentions if you sleep in class, and they will get more homework which will put a burden on them (Greenfeld). Homework makes kids sleep deprived and not ready for the next day of school. Kids are getting way too much homework. This relates back to the whole not getting enough sleep thing. Homework is known to cause problems with kids all around the world today. Future adults need to have less homework so we can be ready and prepared for the real world. Recently, researchers at Duke University found that “too much homework could be counterproductive” (Rajoo). Getting too much homework doesn’t help because you would get stressed, and getting stress could lead into a downwards spiral. Another study in California showed that homework leads to “more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance and even alienation from society” (Rajoo).
