What are the health effects Marijuana has on our generation? Study shows that marijuana has long term effects and short term effects. After a person smokes marijuana the THC quickly goes through the lungs and into the bloodstream. The blood carries the chemical to the brain with other organs throughout the body. THC is absorbs more slowly when a person eats or drinks, In that case they generally feel the effects after 30 minutes to 1 hour. Marijuana over activates parts of the brain that contain the highest number of these receptors. This causes the “high” that people feel. Other short term effects include; altered sense of time, changes in mood, impaired body movement, difficulty with thinking and problem-solving and impaired memory. When marijuana is taken in high doses hallucinations, delusions and psychosis start to occur within 25-30 minutes.
