The Slave Auction
Frances Ellen Watkins Harper who was born in Baltimore created the source. Harper was a writer, journalist, and an activist. In her educational background, Harper attended a Negro Youth, which was a school run by her uncle. She had a career of being a traveling speaker. During her job as a traveling speaker, Harper helped the black slaves to escape through the Underground Railroad (Harper, 3). As a journalist and a writer, she wrote anti-slavery articles on newspapers and it made her earn the reputation of the first African American mother of journalism.
The author’s message in the source has enlightened the society about the experiences of the children and society that are pulled apart. Her description of the slave life is made in emotional feeling.
