The book The Cellar is about a girl named Summer Robinson who gets kidnapped on the way to a party in a small town named Long Thorpe. Clover, the man who kidnapped her, right away greets her by calling her Lily. Confused, Summer tries to explain that he must be looking for someone else. Before she first left her house, she had gotten in a small fight with her boyfriend, Lewis, because he didn’t want her to go because it wasn’t safe out there. So, Summer immediately thinks of him and hopes that she is just dreaming whilst in the van of her kidnapper. When Summer arrives at Clover’s house, she sees that three other girls are already there. One day her mother caught her husband cheating on her with another woman, and applied for a divorce soon after. Colin was devastated as a child.
