The Haymarket riot also known as the Haymarket massacre or Haymarket affair was the result of a bombing that took place at Haymarket Square in Chicago on Tuesday, May 4, 1886. it began as a peaceful rally striking an against how little pay they get for a long day of work that is every day of the week. Also, another reason for the protest was a reaction to the killing of several workers the previous day by the local police. An unknown person threw a dynamite bomb at police as they civilians protested. The bomb blast and gunfire resulted in deaths of multiple police officers and 6 deaths and a lot of others were severely wounded. They insisted that the meeting was peaceful. But the police disagreed and said, "I command you in the name of the law to desist and you to disperse". A home-made dynamite bomb with a metal case filled with dynamite was ignited by a fuse that was thrown into the path of the moving police. Then the bomb exploded, killing many police. After the bomb blast there was an exchange of gun fire between police and civilians. It was mayhem everyone was running and screaming about 60 were wounded. An anonymous police official told the Chicago Tribune, "A very large number of the police were wounded by each other's revolvers. It was every man for himself, and while some got two or three squares away, the rest cleared their revolvers clean, mainly into each other. Overall seven policemen and at least four workers were killed. Another policeman died two years after the incident from complications related to injuries received on that day. About 60 policemen were injured in the
