Susan Anthony and Elie Wiesel presented speeches on social justice. Susan focused on the woman’s right to vote for presidential election while Elie Wiesel speech was the perils of indifference. The historical speeches address the inequality that persisted in the society leading to discrimination of women rights. People lacked liberty in the United States, and someone to fight for their rights was the solution for the problems encountered. Elie addressed the president to clear indifference in the society while Susan addressed the whole nation for the purpose of awareness on the realization of equality required for women to participate in voting. The effort by Susan Anthony was dedicated to preventing the society and the government on discriminating women by denying them the right to vote (Anthony, 1872). The speech by Elie meant to sensitize people to exercise moral conscience in the face of injustice as well as warn them of the dangers of indifference. Both the speeches focus on liberation for creating social justice. However, a speech by Susan targets equality for women only, whereas Elie’s speech focuses on humanity for all kinds of people in the society to reduce and remove indifferences (Wiesel, 1999). In the 1800s women were denied rights to vote because of the positions held by a male. Susan became a prominent women’s right movement leader to execute the need for humanity and equality. As a result, Elie coordinates to the issues by defining to the public and president on the need of clearing out differences that exist in the society since they caused suffering. Elie’s and Susan’s speech encourage the fight for justice advocates for humanity.
