Susan B. Anthony was an advocate of women’s rights when many people were against them. During Susan B. Anthony’s life, the United States was experiencing the Civil War which included events such as, Abe Lincoln signing the Homestead Act, the first coast-to-coast telegram being invented, as well as the Central and Union Pacific. She helped establish the American Equal Rights Association with Stanton. Also created and produced The Revolution, a weekly newspaper arguing women’s rights. She founded the National Woman Suffrage Association, and became vice president. She also traveled the world giving speeches about women’s right to vote. She supported it so much that she voted illegally and got fined one hundred dollars that she never paid. This changed society by giving women their rights that they always deserved. (bio.com 4-11)
In conclusion, Susan B. Anthony is important to American history because of Susan’s early life, she gave women right to vote, and she was a leading activist. She never stopped fighting for women’s rights from the start of her life to the end. By attending many conventions for women’s rights, making newspapers, giving speeches, and founding associations for women’s rights.
During Susan’s time women would view her as a hero because she fought for their right to vote. Some men who did not believe in women’s rights would not view her as a hero during her time because she fought for the one thing they did not want. Hillary Clinton would view her as a hero today because she is all for women’s rights. Still today men who are not for women’s rights would not view her as a hero. She is a hero in my mind because she never gave up on women and the rights they
