The passage, “Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote” and the play, “The Watsons Go to Birmingham” show a common theme. That common theme is being different. While these two pieces of text show the same theme, the level of risks that these characters face in these two texts are different. One way the level of risks in the two pieces of texts is different, is in the play, “The Watsons Go to Birmingham,” has a little bit of violence that kills a bunch of little girls and shows the hatred that the whites had on the blacks. Meanwhile, on the other hand in the passage, “Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote” it doesn’t show any violence whatsoever.

The passage, “Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote” shows a common theme of being different. One way the passage shows being different is the piece of evidence where Susan B Anthony and fifteen other women demanded to be entered to vote and voted in the national election. Even though both of these passages show a common theme of being different they both show it in different ways. One way is the level of risks the characters face in both passages. In the passage, “Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote” Susan knows that she will pay a price by demanding to be entered to vote and voting in a national election, but she knows by doing this she will inspire young women. Also, in the play, “The Watsons Go to Birmingham” the mom and the dad know that bringing their children down to Birmingham they could be treated unfairly, but they know it will be the best for their children. These two risks are different because Susan ends up gong to jail for a long period of time, but Byron and Kenny are exposed to the hatred that whites have on blacks. These two level of risks are
