Rhetorical analysis essay By : Xavier Evans 5th hour When people think of “introverts”, and “extroverts” the thoughts that often come to mind are “ super shy” and or “super outgoing”, but there's so much more to those words. When entering the workforce for the first time people are told to have a “go get’em attitude”, however Susan Cain has a very different outlook on this subject. Introverts do best in low key, quiet environments. Cain herself is an introvert, and is able to portray that through her book keeping everything simple so that she can keep her audience on task. After she shares a fact or statistic she often says where she found the information, along with research that was done to.prove it. There are many different types of audiences that the book appeals to a manager of a business, to an introverted person, or even an extrovert that has an introverted family member or friend. Susan Cain makes it clear in her book that the intended audience is our entire society saying “ Culturally we need a better balance” meaning a balance between extroverts and introverts.Our experiences, social or otherwise, are often a journey that we embark on alone. If her studies are correct and one in every three people are introverted, then a third of the entire population now has a better understanding about how they socialize and operate. That not only widens her audience, but also helps make an instant connection with anyone who feels the same way she does. Great call to actions are often clear enough for the audience to do immediately when they leave the room. A website to visit, an amount to invest, or perhaps a newsletter to sign up for. Cain travels (successfully!) in the other direction, encouraging members of her introvert community to take care of themselves, but also encouraging extroverts to adopt some peaceful habits.
