Susan Eloise Hinton's The Outsiders

SE Hinton was the author who wrote the book, The Outsiders. She was born on July 22nd, 1948. She was born in Tulsa Oklahoma. She attended Will Rogers High School and went to the University of Tulsa for her college years. SE Hinton did not put her full name on the book because her book publisher didn’t want it to be discriminated against because she was a female. Her actual name is, Susan Eloise Hinton.
She started writing the book The Outsiders when she was in high school. The book was published when she was only 19, in 1967. She was driven to write the book because she felt that books were too fairy tale like. She wanted a book to more truthfully describe the teenage life. She based most of what she wrote on what was going on around her.
