Violet returned with three glasses of lemonade. Casey took hers. She back to the chair under the tree and enjoyed the sights and smells of courtyard. She imagined sitting in the same location where Lacey would have sat many times when she lived there.
The minutes passed and not wanting to intrude on Violet’s hospitality any longer Casey reluctantly rose. “I think we should leave Violet to her peace and quiet.”
“You’re welcome to stay as long as you want.”
Ray said, “Casey’s right. We need to head back to our hotel. We’re leaving tomorrow.”
Casey added, “I’m so glad our tour took us by here. It’s nice to know the family home is being preserved. You’ve done a wonderful job of restoration.”

They left the secluded secret garden to venture back to the crowded streets of the French Quarter.
“Sweetheart, I know you’re tired, but it’s a short walk to Café du Monde. I could use a fix before we leave tomorrow.”
“Let’s go before I pass out. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this tired.”
As they headed toward the French Market, Casey admitted the day ended up being an incredible experience. One she would never forget. Ray had been right. Sharing this adventure helped them to wind down and reconnect. Spending time having fun was what Casey needed. This day brought her closer to Ray than she had since finding out about his affair. Today gave her encouragement for the future of their marriage. The past year of arguing now seemed inconsequential.
They arrived back at the hotel before nightfall and decided tonight would be the perfect time to find a restaurant close by and enjoy a romantic dinner. She was the first to use the bathroom.
