In the Revolutionary War, there were many heroes that fought for our country. Some of them are well known, like Paul Revere. However, some are forgotten, like Sybil Ludington. This person changed history by alerting the Patriot forces of the British, much like Paul Revere. Her actions saved lives, and helped our country break away from Britain.

Before all of this however, she was just a simple person living in Kent, New York. She was the eldest of twelve children, and was born to Abigail and Henry Ludington. Her date of birth was April 5th, 1761, just 14 years before the Revolutionary War officially began. Before the war happened, Sybil’s father, Henry Ludington, participated in the French and Indian War, and was soon going to be a Patriot.
