“You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life.” No Easy Day by Mark Owen accounts the rough times when the soldiers had to go in and ruin a family's life just to protect their country. There are many instances where the author includes a large piece of symbolism to show what they are going through and how they were protected in times of disparity, such as when they raided Osama Bin Laden's house in Pakistan. One of these symbols is the vests each soldier would put on in order to protect themselves. The bullet proof vest is also a symbol of service and bravery. If one we're to have the heavy duty, camouflage colored vest, they would be considered to be a veteran and one who bravely protected and fought for their country, “I’d spent the last couple hours trying to get comfortable. But I found no peace on the hard mattress or in my own head. It was go day, and there was no getting around the significance of the mission now” (Owens 197). This quote shows the experience and bravery Mark Owens was going through on the day of Go Day when it was finally time to raid Osama Bin Laden, the man who corrupted ones lives and made times worse near the World Trade Centers in Manhattan, New York on the date of September 11, 2001.
