Imagine a normal life where there are no worries, peaceful. Suddenly, it all changes in front of one’s eye. Forced to do everything someone of high power tells them to do, no questions asked, or else one gets shot on sight. That is if one is lucky enough to even have that chance before being brutally murdered in cold blood for no reason. What was once a pleasant life, has been turned into a life of anguish. Wishing the terrifying life one is merely a nightmare where one can just wake up. Unfortunately, this truly happened in our world. Moreover, ever since the dawn of man, light and darkness are thought to be the everlasting idea of good being light and evil that of which is darkness. Steven Spielberg uses light to greatly portray how an individual is feeling or to show a sense of persona a character gives off. For instants, in some parts of the Schindler’s List Spielberg uses schism lighting during times of hard decision provoking the emotion of immense thought. Schindler on another point of the film, shows himself as a dark figure on top of a flight of stairs emitting a sense of profound authority and power among the individual below. At points of the film, I teared up from the dramatic scenes of cruelty and unfairness. Although, by the end of the film after seeing all the horrendous acts that happened right in front of my face occurred, the conclusion filled my heart with courage and delight. The director does not only direct the actors, the cameras, and the numerous film crew on set. Ultimately, the director directs the individuals through the voyage of emotion and imagination that is film.
