The Green light is the most notable, and most talked about symbol in the novel “The Great Gatsby”, and it’s my favorite. The reasons why I would favor this symbol than the others ( “The Valley of Ashes”, ‘The Eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleberg”, and “Gatsby’s Books”) is because it’s woven with three constructive meanings that eventually collapsed onto each other as the story progresses. The first appearance of the Green Light comes from the end of chapter one when Nick looks outside at night to see Gatsby with his hand in his pockets, then stretching out his hands as if he was trying to grab the Green Light, then vanishing.
