Symbols have been around for centuries in many shapes and forms. There are many different symbols in the world of Beowulf ,and each symbol has its own unique story behind it such as Herot ,Grendel's claw and head, the giants sword ,and of course the dragons hoard of gold and jewels. These are the main symbols portrayed throughout the epic poem. The battle between Beowulf and the mighty Grendel was a great one. Grendel came thrashing into Herot like any other night he would and expect an easy fight and quick dinner ,but he did not know the notorious Beowulf was among them when he came clashing through the doors. She saw the claw and came back to avenge her son and take back Beowulf's trophy. She killed everyone that was in the mead hall that night to return the favor. that morning Beowulf rose to the challenge to hunt and kill the mighty she monster that brought grief to the thanes kingdom.
