I do not believe that President Andrew Jackson should have been impeached. All of his actions were constitutional, he made his decisions in hope of the best results for his country and people, which should show no evidence of misconduct from the president. Therefore, no legal action should or can be taken against Jackson.

As for the banks, Jackson killed the national banks and extracted federal funds because he saw the organization as corrupt and biased. Biddle’s system was suspected as providing the rich at the expense of the poor because it influenced its funding to the elite. The Tariff of Abomination infuriated the southern states, particularly South Carolina, as it played in favor to the northern states. However, as a country it benefited the economy by expanding domestic manufacturing. South Carolina’s response to the Tariff of 1828, was with a threatening nullification, which was not only selfish and a dangerous towards the Union, but also unconstitutional itself. By participating in the signing of the constitution, South Carolina had agreed to follow the commands. Article 1, Section 8 of the constitution declares, “The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;” Therefore giving Congress the power to pass tariffs, and later gives responsibility to the president to enforce the laws. Jackson was allowed to then take military action to enforce them using the power of the Force Bill. Jackson was only trying to maintain the United States, which he did so by acting within his powers.
